Sometimes this world can be a chaotic place. It can often seem like everywhere you look, there is the scenario of people being loud and ignorant. And then, there is ruthless competition in various areas ranging from getting a DepC to grabbing a CDC internship. And along with it, the current news served to us mainly consists of Loss, Chaos, and Negativity.

But you should not keep dwelling on the negative things. Because that empowers the negative things to occupy and ruin your mind. Instead, you should lookup for the changes and impacts you can bring to make the world a better place. It’s also the key to find Peace.

As Gandhiji said, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world. You should start working and contributing to your own wellness and wellbeing because it is the right and most sensible thing to do.

The following few steps will help you to beat the bad and cope up with the chaos around you:

  1. Take time for yourself: During stressful times like the recent ones, you must take time to calm down and reflect back on what’s been happening around you. When the surrounding feels too chaotic and too loud, you need to cover yourself with self-care and surround yourself with your favorite things and memories. Take this self-time to process the surroundings and their happenings, because you need to know that you can’t help every person or solve every problem and that’s alright. Also, remember that everything, one way or another, will eventually be okay again.
  2. Journal your appreciation: Change is the only permanent thing. Your surrounding changes, your goal changes, and your peer group changes. There is no guarantee that what you have now, you’ll have tomorrow. So hold close the people and things that you have. Love the people in your life, and appreciate the little things. Have a journal where you make a note of the thing you appreciate and admire, however small they are. It’s also important because our brains are wired to notice the negative first. And this negative bias gets in our way and makes it easy to forget the good and positive aspects of our lives.
  3. Surround yourself with lovely people: Sometimes you might feel low, and things might not go well for you. At that time, most of us lack the self strength to counter and cope with our emotions. And that’s the time when your friends will help you out. Their love will overwhelm the stress and fear you feel. It’s also essential to cut out the toxic people from your life. You don’t need any negativity, especially in regards to your social life.
  4. Disconnect: Social media is brim-full of hate, anger, and chaos. Sometimes you need to have a break from all of this for your own sake and wellbeing. Log out from your Facebook app for a week or two, don’t engage in daily news sites, and make sure you limit your exposure to them. Disconnect from the negativity and remember the previous point with happiness and surround yourself with lovely people.
  5. Exercise: Exercise is very much neglected when we consider mental wellness. But various research and findings have concluded that regular exercise can help in mental wellbeing. Exercises including jogging, cycling, walking, gardening, and dancing can increase motivation and self-esteem and decrease stress and anxiety.

Sometimes it’s difficult to see our problems. We feel hazy about what is going wrong and why we are feeling low. Almost half of the people have encountered a similar situation at least once, where they feel lost in the chaos and crowd. And what motivates them to cope with it are two of the best things in the world, Hope and Community.
